Why CapKin exists

CapKin started from a simple frustration: in most homes the budgeting falls to one person, and the spreadsheet quietly dies by February. We're building the budget you can keep up with by just talking — say what you spent, confirm it in a tap, and the whole household stays on the same page.

We keep a person in the loop on every entry, and every total is recomputed on the server, so the shared picture always adds up. We track only what you tell us — we never touch your bank or move your money. We're building in the open, with our founding households shaping what comes next.

The principles we build by

  • A person in the loop. Every entry is confirmed by a person, and children's entries wait for a parent's approval.
  • Your bank stays yours. No bank connection, no credentials, and no money movement — ever.
  • One shared picture. The whole household logs to the same budget, and every total is recomputed on the server.
  • Calm by default. No dark patterns and no newsletter pop-ups. CapKin is built to WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Kids included, safely. Children can log their own spending for a parent to approve, with no debit card and no ads.

Where we are

CapKin is in beta and free to use. It is an independent product; a legal entity has not yet been formed. If you want to know exactly what CapKin does and does not do, our product facts page lays it out in plain terms. Questions and feedback are welcome at getcapkin@proton.me.
