Most budgets don’t failfor lack of an app.

They fail because logging every purchase is a chore — and one person ends up doing it for everyone.

CapKin removes both problems.

The core loop

How it works

01

Say it (or type it)

“Milk 3.20, bread 2, a taxi home 14.” One sentence, however many items.

02

CapKin sorts it

AI splits the line into items and proposes a category for each — under fifteen seconds an entry.

03

You confirm

Anything it isn’t sure of is flagged, never guessed. Nothing saves before a person taps.

04

Stay under the cap

Totals update live; a gentle nudge arrives only when a category nears its cap.

Trust, up front

Your money, your data,your call.

No bank login, ever.

CapKin doesn’t touch your bank or move money. You tell it what you spent — that’s all it does, which is exactly why it’s fast, private, and easy to trust.

Raw audio is never stored.

Speech becomes text, then the audio is discarded. There is no audio database.

The AI proposes; you decide.

Nothing reaches your budget without a human tap. It never invents an amount or a category.

The payoff

Every category,under its cap.

Set a cap for the month and a target per category. CapKin keeps the running total and shows you, at a glance, where you stand — and nudges you, gently, only when something needs a look.

Calm, never alarmed.

Truly shared

One budget.The whole family.

No more reconciling separate apps, and no more being the only one tracking it. Three roles fit real households — and privacy-as-care for minors is built in.

Founding households

The budget theyactually kept.

I used to be the only one who ever logged anything.

Now my partner just says “coffee, 4.50” on the walk home and it’s done. It’s the first budget we’ve actually kept three months running.

I will never open a spreadsheet. But talking to it? I do that without thinking.

I logged the entire weekly shop in about ten seconds, out loud, while unpacking bags.

What sold me is that it doesn’t touch my bank.

I just tell it what I spent — fast and private. And the little nudge when we’re near a cap actually feels calm, not stressful.

My teenager logs her own spending now, and it waits for my okay.

It’s quietly taught her more about money than any lecture from me ever did.

Who’s behind CapKin

A budget you cankeep up with.

CapKin started from a simple frustration: in most homes the budgeting falls to one person, and the spreadsheet quietly dies by February. We’re building the budget you can keep up with by just talking — say what you spent, confirm it in a tap, and the whole household stays on the same page.

We keep a person in the loop on every entry, and every total is recomputed on the server, so the shared picture always adds up. We track only what you tell us — we never touch your bank or move your money. We’re building in the open, with our founding households shaping what comes next.

Built to WCAG 2.1 AA.

Questions, answered.

Do I have to use my voice?

No. Voice is the fastest path, but everything works by typing and tapping too.

Does CapKin connect to my bank?

No, and it never will. You tell it what you spent; it keeps the shared picture.

Is it free?

Free while we’re in beta, with no card. Founding households keep a free tier when paid plans arrive — the first 100, no surprises.

Can my kids use it?

Yes, with capture-only access; their entries wait for a parent’s approval.

What happens to the audio?

It’s turned into text and then discarded. There’s no audio database.

Will it work on my phone?

Yes. CapKin installs to your home screen and runs like an app — no app store needed.
